İstanbul Gelişim University

İstanbul Gelişim University that has started with twelve departments in three faculties in its first year aims to equip its valuable students with quality education, advanced technological knowledge, capability of making use of at least one foreign language in any intercultural contexts, universal human values and a questioning mind.

Gelişim Education and Culture Foundation, the founder of The Vocational School, serves in all training processes from pre-school teaching to university. One of the main aims of the Foundation is to educate qualified and enterprising academic staff and business people in Turkey and in the world due to the training in higher education.

İstanbul Gelişim Vocational School that goes into action with the Council of Ministers’ decision numbered 2008/13951 and dated 14/7/2008 started its educational life with nine programmes on the 28th of October 2008 by accepting its first students in 2008 OSYS (SSPE-Student Selection and Placement Examination). In 2009-2010 academic year, the number of programmes reached to thirty-one with seven evening education programmes. In 2010-2011 academic year, the number of programmes reached to forty daytime and evening education programmes together. During 2010-2011 academic year, 1850 students had education with 86% scholarship at Gelişim Vocational School.

In the meeting of Higher Education Council dated 07.10.2010; the presentation about Gelisim University that is intended to be founded by Gelişim Education, Culture, Health and Social Foundation, was monitored and it was decided to be notified to Ministry of National Education with positive opinion. Law draft about the foundation of Gelişim University that will have Schools of Fine Arts, Engineering and Architecture, Economics and Administrative Sciences and Institutes of Social Sciences and Sciences submitted to TBMM (GNAT- Grand National Assembly of Turkey) on Tuesday, 28th of December 2010.
