Beşiktaş JK Museum

Beşiktaş JK was established in 1903 during the late Ottoman period and it is one of Turkey’s most successful teams today. Their museum is located within the Vodafone Arena which is built on the site of the former İnönü Stadium. Beşiktaş JK is situated across the world famous Dolmabahçe Palace. İnönü Stadium has always been a landmark for Istanbul since it not only hosted Beşiktaş’ football matches, but also numerous international competitions including national holiday celebrations and legendary music concerts among others. With contributions from Beşiktaş JK club members, İnönü Stadium (Vodafone Arena) houses Turkey’s first Private Sports museum which opened its doors to the public on 11th November 2001.  The museum exhibits the club’s 1903 foundation document; various prizes such as cups, medals and plaques; crampons worn by the legendary Beşiktaş players and chronologically displayed historical photographs. On Sundays and match days, entrance to the museum is free of charge.
